Summary
Shaw Communications is set to change
their company’s logo and also introduce two animated robots, Bit and Bud to the
public as their new mascots. Shaw, will introduce the new characters, by way of
television, newspaper and other media outlets. The story of the mascots is that
they are a colony of robots living in the underbelly of a television network;
however, the public will only become familiar with two of them, Bit and Bud.
Through Bit and Bud, the company gets the public to understand the
technological side of their company.
Shaw compares their new mascots, to Frank and Gordon the Beavers from
the Bell commercials in the 2005 – 2008era. They became celebrities in the
advertising and promotional business, but soon became tiresome. In a marketing poll the Beavers were either
loved or hated. Shaw believes this will not happen to their mascots because
these characters are not speaking on behalf of the organization, but rather,
they are actually the workers.
Opinion
I have seen the
commercials featuring Bit and Bud and they are cute, lovable and funny. These
bots will certainly get your attention and give you a chuckling after seen the commercial. Although, I do wonder what affect these two
will have on the company, and in increasing the company’s product
brand.
